A variety of game mechanics were used including team pick'ems, survivor pools, insured contests and game streak challenges. The player base quickly grew from 30k to over 120k and page views increased from 1.5m to over 6m. Success came from intuitive play mechanics, relevant sponsors and aspirational prizing. Strong promotion was also critical with TV, web, mobile, SEO, SEM and editorial components.
For many partnerships, the contests leveraged sports they were already invested in. Clients like Carlsberg took title sponsorship of soccer focused programming as well as the related fantasy contests. Score talent were integrated into branded segments featuring game breakdowns and analysis. Carlsberg sponsored prizing included official merchandise and trips to Anfield Stadium to see a Liverpool Premier League game.
